The league deciding game is.....

I noticed you'd mentioned both teams winning all their games.mark wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2024 11:04 amI did wonder about posting it but then I realised it's only the question that I'm seeing asked on Twitter etc, so I decided to caveat it by basing it only on both teams winning all their games until we reach the decisive game. There are too many variations of possible results to do a comprehensive list, I suspect that would need some Excel wizardry to create a dynamic spreadsheet and while I would love to play with such a thing I simply don't have the time to develop one as I'm now getting very busy in other parts of my life as spring approaches.
It is a very fair question and we've talked about it in the pub, but any post like this regarding winning titles etc always makes me think of that post on The Cage - 'Who can stop the Panthers?'
A few weeks later the answer seemed to be everybody.

Regulation winsDoom wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2024 7:19 am
As an aside, what are the deciding criteria if two teams finish on equal points? I'm thinking it's probably regulation wins. As things currently stand Cardiff have had 2 more OT/PS victories than us, which means if we were to finish level on points, unless between now and the end of the season we have a couple more OT/PS wins, we'd take the title on regulation wins.
Then
All Wins (inc. OT/Pens).
With a 6 win lead and only 13 league games to go for us*, then assuming Cardiff don't lose (and go from .74 hockey to 1.0) they can get 87pts. So we need to win 9 out of 13 (and drop from .89 to .69 hockey).
I can't see us not winning it, but I won't relax until it's in the bag.
I hope it's at home this time - the last time was in Fife I believe, in front of a couple of hundred away fans.
*according to an old programme I have, although the EIHL table says we've played 40 games, and it's 54 over the season!

I hope this sort of conversation is not taking place in the room. The players just need to forget all this and concentrate on the next game. They have been excellent at doing that so far. I trust Fox to make sure they keep their heads. He has also proved to be excellent this season. It has been a fabulous season to watch. Well done to all.

As of now, Steelers Reg Win 33, Cardiff Reg Wins 25.
Team GP PTS W OTW L OTL/SOL GF GA PTS %
1 x - Sheffield Steelers 42 73 33 3 5 1 181 79 0.87
2 x - Cardiff Devils 42 62 25 5 10 2 167 113 0.74
I've just seen a tweet from Fife re their remaining fixtures. There's one listed v the Steelers with date to be announced.
I assume it will be v near to the season end at this point, so another potential league deciding game.
