I do appreciate it must be a difficult choice for any coach in our league to regularly play their (generally) young Brit goalies. They see what they’re like in training etc which us as fans don’t of course.Jayboy wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 3:03 pmI fail to see what other conclusion we are meant to believe? Surely Fox has a good enough handle on what calibre of netminder he needs.smbmetal wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 2:25 pmWe can't expect anything out of the ordinary from our new netminder. He's played two games all season.
He isn't going to be anywhere near match fit, even if he was the standard of Greenfield, I won't be expecting him to be standing on his head having only played two games all season!
Does make me wonder if playing one of our Brit goalies would be worth a shot? Are they really that bad that we scared stiff of giving them a game?![]()
but Fox has past issues with the netminders he has hired? Maybe his scouts are not that expertise in this area of the team? Greenfield being the obvious exception?
Training isn’t a match though and for me, if the Brit goalies aren’t given a chance in real game situations, they’ll continue to just open the door on the benches.
Fox has admitted in previous interviews/podcasts that he’s no goalie expert, but I really don’t see where the next number 1 Brit goalie is coming from? I don’t think it will be from the Steelers.
