I wasn’t sure if we were allowed to comment on Petgrave’s situation, but as a few have already said this feels like a scam.

I’m sure Tony would have Petgrave’s back when it comes to any legal fees etc. Each time the Police Bail is extended certainly puzzles me. I don’t understand what further time is required :hey:

Unfortunately, it’s the only time that you see $ky Sports News report on the EIHL each time the Police bail is extended.

I wonder if the club could put out some sort of statement to help clarify here?

It would be very helpful if they did even if just to confirm it's genuine/not genuine but I strongly suspect they are either waiting for or have received legal advice not to make any comment at all.

That's got scam written all over it, I might very well be wrong and only happy to be proven as well.

If this is a scam, then shame on that person or persons behind it & should be ashamed of their actions

The police should certainly be involved in this matter imo

Isn’t Adam Johnson’s shirt being retired this weekend in Nottingham? Drawing people’s attention to this tragedy once again.

Allegedly... Simms has confirmed this is accurate on something called the orange army, think that's a private facebook group ?, heard rumours about how nice a place it is but never visited. But no public comment yet, draw your own conclusions.

It may end up being legit... Look like mabe it is, but I would rather contribute to something ran either by the Steelers on a game night or an official EIHL league or Sheffield Steelers go fund me page, that doesn't have the issues with payments that this one obviously has.. I feel so sorry for Mat that it has come to this, and In many ways I am disappointed with the way it's all being handled. There may well be issues regarding the way Mat can fund on his own, but if it's true that his insurance and/or EIHL support has stopped then all this is leaves a very bitter taste...

It is 100% legit and is now being reported in North American media.

I have to say it’s not a good look for your club or our league.

Appreciate they may not be able to pay him a wage, but surely they can help with his expenses so he can feed himself.

Also I think it’s an awful look for the U.K. justice system as he is for all intents and purposes being held hostage here.

This should be an open and closed case, they had all the evidence on day one, will have interviewed witnesses, so why is it taking so long?

From what I understand the club are helping out.. I think they are paying his accommodation and utilities...
The insurance is a limited time and is down to EIHL not the Steelers org.
And obviously without a visa the club can't legally pay him to do any job.

From what we heard months back, the club was trying to employ Matt in some role within the team, but legal can't.. Not sure how much of that is true, but his entire life is on hold now, non of it is the club's fault.

If it’s legit I’m guessing the club isn’t able to assist with further costs outside the insurance coverage?

Maybe the club isn’t able to assist further due to legal implications?

It really is a sorry situation all round. Unfortunately the national and international media continue to report on it.

Hopefully there’s a resolution before the New Year.

Being reported in North America is not evidence of legitimacy in my opinion. What other evidence do you have for your 100% claim?

There is no good reason imo for this having been dragged out so long and the coroner and police should answer to this. The inquest isn’t scheduled yet. Will the police/cps bring charges before the inquest verdict? I don’t know but there can be no trial without a charge being brought. Some progress with this is long overdue imo and puts all concerned in a very difficult position and is in itself shameful.

When there is some official confirmation of the process or the need for funding I’m sure the support will come from fans and the club/league in whatever various forms required, but a Facebook post is not official enough for me.
