Mitchell Heard
Soon as I heard that he was released from his contract I was hoping we would sign him asap! He was a standout player for the Clan last season and clearly one of the best opposition players we witnessed at the arena.
I think he will fit very well into our structure and we will be much better for his aggression and scoring! As for who drops out? Seitz just hasn't looked like adding to his scoring exploits from last season? so he's the one for me, I don't get 'he hasn't had the opportunity' he has he's just not taken it! it happens in all aspects of sport and life, there may be reasons but its a sport and a business, we move on if he is the one to be cut? if not he sits in the stands and waits for his chance to perform.

I hope your enthusiasm proves to be well founded lovedenisvial.

If Heard has the same impact as Connolly, I think this will prove to be a very good signing.

I'm always a little nervous these days with players like Heard, because in the modern reduced contact game, players like Heard have a target on their back with certain officials.

After the performance on Sunday, I could see Fox sticking with the top two lines and Heard centering Juusola and Gentile, with Tremblay dropping back into a 4th line role.

Obviously things might change after tonight.

Maybe not straight away but I wonder if Heard will be used to get a tune out of Seitz who is obviously a good player in this league but hasn’t performed as of yet.

If that does happen and works, running 6D with Kelly as one of the 6 would give us a very deep 4 forward lines

Someone has gone back through his penalty minutes last year -its quite interesting.

Basically, most of his penalty minutes come from a handful of games - i.e. when he goes off, he really goes off. Other than that he's basically at a minor penalty 1 in every 3 games.

Nick Seitz off to Guildford Fames

Fox Confirms Transfer News as Seitz Joins the Flames
We have agreed a transfer with Guildford for Nick Seitz. With the addition of Heardo (Mitchell Heard) and Nick not playing a role that both sides had hoped for, and expected, this was right for both parties. Sometimes things just don’t work out, we still think Nick is a good player and wish him well. Guildford are thin with injuries at the moment and we were happy with the conditions to agree to move him there.

This would appear to be a good move for all parties.

Clearly Fox style hockey didn't get the best out of Seitz, whereas Moore hockey did.

I guess at Guildford he'll be logging big minutes, which will probably suit him.

I like Guildford and Dixon, so I hope it works out for all concerned.

I'd be interested to know how many of these types of signings actually work out (i.e. a title-challenger side signing a top scorer from a lower table side in the EIHL).

I feel like Belfast do this quite a lot (Barriga, Tedesco) with mixed success.

Apart from Seitz, the only other player I can think of in recent times was when Ryan Hayes signed from Edinburgh, and that didn't really work out either...

Sometimes players don't work out. It happens, see it in the NHL constantly, so no reason why it shouldn't happen here.

Could he have had more chances? Maybe. But they also have to be earned.

Hope he lands on his feet in Guildford

Something that Fox does which is absolutely correct and yet frustrating as hell is to shield dressing room drama or injuries from the public. Seitz is clearly uninjured or he wouldn't have been signed by Guildford but something has happened which made Fox unable to trust him on the ice and he's made the call to get rid of him very quickly. Probably the best for all concerned, not all our coaches have had the guts to act as quickly.

Quite a few fans saying he didn't get a chance. Maybe true that a bit longer could have settled him in but it's a results business and we're expected to win.

As the quote from Shoresy says, "find a way to contribute" if you can't do that when the points aren't happening, you probably need a change of scenery.

It's no slight on coach or player, it's just what happens sometimes.
