GAME THREAD: Devils v Steelers: Sat 20th Dec 7pm

The start of a run of almost must win games over the Christmas period. Whilst the title can’t be won at Christmas, it can be pretty much lost if we have a poor run of games.
We can’t afford to lose ground on our rivals, especially as we don’t have the first tie-breaker on regulation wins. Losing this one in regulation puts us 3 points behind the Devils with only the one game in hand.
We’ve not had any of what I would call ‘tough’ games recently, so we’ll need to raise our level for 60 mins, not just for 5 minutes in the training session against Glasgow.
Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll be quite up to speed for this one.
3-2 Cardiff.

I can't say I have any confidence going into this game.
Cardiff are playing well and have a very good record on home ice against us.
Obviously I hope I'm wrong, but I can't see anything other than a comfortable Cardiff victory by 2 or 3 goals.
I think we match them for netminding and defence, but our forwards fall short. Maybe if Watling comes in firing in a few weeks that changes, but for now I think it's going to be a poor Steelers Christmas.
Can we get above 45% on faceoffs?
Regards

It feels as if Devils had the better of that period. More possession and more shots but only half of them seemed to be on goal. Our PP looked better and at last holding our own on faceoffs, or so it seems. Balmas yet again on target.
