Steelers Roster Elite Series 2021

20-man roster consisting of 8 imports, 5 “protected” Brits & 7 Brits from a draft pool.

Based on what we have already (and who’s unavailable due to already being elsewhere) we are looking as follows, although it’s likely subject to change and I’ll update as & when more becomes clear.

good idea SB, i was thinking of adding the same sort of post, i know this forum has been very quiet of late, for obvious reasons. Maybe we can get a push on with members getting a little more into the hockey after the enforced break.
if you reading this please contribute and share to others..

I am going to throw a name out their to start things off.. Simon Kirk! I would be surprised if Fox gets him for a full season in September, but surely there is a great chance he is available for a short 5 week run to keep his fitness up...

I definitely expect to see all these players. Will be interesting to see if we get some higher standard imports thrown in than we are typically used to.

If he is available I cant see us letting him be in the draft, we would definitely be one of our 5 protected Brits.. not sure how that works in terms of signing for the club first etc but I can't see him going in the draft if the possibility of him playing for the Steelers is a real one..

Protected players

Each of the four teams playing in the 2021 Elite Series has protected five players, and these players are already allocated to those teams for the series. To protect a player, he must have played for that team in 2019/20 OR have been signed to that team for the 2020/21 season before it was cancelled OR already be under contract for season 2021/22. Each team's Protected List will be pre-approved by the EIHL's Head of Hockey Operations, Mike Hicks, on this basis.

I am hoping this is the clause in the Protected player rule that lands us Simon Kirk

I guess he’ll still be under contract in the Arizona organisation, playing with Petes again. Can’t see him being with us for 21/22.

Would have to assume our protected players are Connolly, Dowd, D Phillips, J Phillips and Sam Jones are our protected players.
