We certainly improved after an awful first 10 minutes (a familiar story this season) I think we took the second period and the third was even. The stats confirm what I felt watching. We had more shots but they had more shots on goal. They finished better. But Giants just seem that bit better all round. Their passing is crisper and more accurate. But I feel probably their players and ours are not so far apart in ability. Giants however seem better organised. Their D is always well located. Their forwards check back well. Once in possession they flood forward. I couldn’t help wondering what Keefe could do with our team! Perhaps we were tiring after Wednesday. If so I worry about Sunday. It’s been a tough week.
Didn’t watch the game, as I expected a loss, but fortunately not the hammering I feared.
Perhaps even the most optimistic fan will concede the final nail has been put in our title challenge with a 3rd straight loss to Belfast.
A 4th placed finish is still very possible. Which for me, ain’t good enough.

Thanks as always Mark for the live updates - much appreciated.
Had to be elsewhere so didn’t catch the game - but as smb - I think I was one of the optimistic ones based on the maths and a long shot.
Sadly, I don’t see Belfast losing 2 more games than us over the remainder ( which would also assume of course we beat them in the home double header to come). And TBH - if you’re having to rely on others losing - we blew it.
Run the 4 lines now and get the young guns the experience, lines settles and everyone more rested - let’s look forward to the playoffs.

Apart from a win I did get what I wanted which was a performance. Playoff levels of application and intensity, I don't think we get much better out of this group.
I think Fox was right to shorten the lines, it was a critical game and that's what you do in those moments. Truth is we haven't had the same success with recruitments this season, we have never replaced the X-Factor which was Vallerand, the loss of Whistle hurt our Brit pack, talk about no loyalty in sport, we gave him a second chance after he screwed up the first time and he repaid us by buggering off to Belfast. Unless Belfast suddenly change their name to Fife I can't see them being caught now, the good news is we are clearly very close to them and in a one off game like a playoff we can still succeed.
No doubt Fox's attention has already turned to next season and who to keep or release.

I think winning this game was unlikely, but it was closer run than I had expected after the intensity of the Panthers mid-week game which must have been draining both physically and emotionally. Let's see if we can get back to winning ways against Cardiff.
