I think the market has changed a little since then. I think ECHL pays slightly better than it once did (given that players were on the verge of strike action a couple of years ago). Also Roy was older and Forney definitely seemed to have a plan of how long he was going to play for and then hang them up. That's probably in the 'things we as fans don't know ' category, but just shows how few true ppg+ ECHLers actually sign over here (before the age of 29). It's partly why I feel fan expectations on signings are over optimistic/critical. Based on edge cases that have signed here, and expect that to be the standard of the majority.Doom wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2026 8:56 pmWe did manage to sign Roy and Forney, both of whom came with excellent ECHL stats (although Forney was from an earlier season), so we have attracted top ECHL players in the past.
I do agree though, if Katic does come to Europe, it's likely to be in a higher paying league than the EIHL.

There are still a few signing over here who have had point per game seasons in the ECHL (O'Brien, Harris and Doherty at a quick check), but they weren't mid 20's when they came here, which is why I'd agree Katic would be very unlikely.
What did surprise me when I looked on Elite Prospects is that Marcus Crawford was the top points scorer last season in the whole league.....still only 29......get him signed up Foxy.

Yeah he absolutely lit it up this season. He would be ideal as a second offensive D so not all on Cormier. No idea if he's available or looking to move back to Europe but I suspect there will have been enquiries from a lot of teams in EuropeDoom wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2026 5:09 pmThere are still a few signing over here who have had point per game seasons in the ECHL (O'Brien, Harris and Doherty at a quick check), but they weren't mid 20's when they came here, which is why I'd agree Katic would be very unlikely.
