Steele was fantastic tonight along with Rockwood. I've like Gettinger's all round game despite no offence before tonight-tonight he got a couple of goals handed to him on a plate, was good to see. I like the 3 full lines we had tonight. Maybe should stick with these for a bit and have IBN playing with Collins and Dowd when back. .
Was great to see whistle play when we thought he was out and he had a strong game too.
Great to get the win, nice to have some entertaining and putting in the effort hockey.
Clan were poor, felt sorry for their netmnder. Faced a lot of rubber with not much cover.

Whoever is setting up the PA has got zero understanding of audiology. Its prime function is to announce. For that you need to programme for speech intelligibility. Tonight it was exactly the opposite. Far too much bass masking the treble sibilant syllables that we rely on so much for understanding English. The speakers were all in the wrong places. In only a few places would it have been better than last week. I guess we just have to be patient. It’s really not good.

Thought tonight was much better from Steelers. Having said that a decent team would have scored several some of the chances we gave away. Good to see Gettinger finally living up to the hype around him. Tonight I really liked the way we kept the puck in the O zone and tired them out. The goals inevitably followed. Whistle did well. In the first period I thought it showed we really lack a sharpshooting forward apart of course for Balmas.

The thing I don’t get about the speakers in the arena is why is it down to the Steelers to sort the problem out? As tenants of the arena, we didn’t install the sound system, it was part of the fixtures and fittings of the building, The arena can’t claim they don’t need to use them, what if there was an emergency and the building needed evacuating quickly? How would arena staff inform the public if the sound system doesn’t function. Surely this would have ramifications regarding business liability, not to mention health and safety and insurance? Or am I misunderstanding the situation?

Much much better. Can't get ahead of ourselves but just so much more intensity and much better decisions being made with the puck.

Gettinger was very good - he's never going to be flashy, but great on the dot, good offensive zone work and some much better controlled zone entries. Potentially a great fit if can keep up the chemistry with Balmas + Archambault.

Rockwood also had a strong game. Made a couple of absolutely beautiful passes that deserved goals.

The small details were way better as well - sticks in the right lanes, body position, gap control etc

Positive, now just need to build from here

I said the same to my mate at the end of the 1st.

I thought we actually played better in the 1st than the 2nd, but we didn't have that natural goalscorer to convert the opportunities we created.

I do think the balance of the squad doesn't look right, with too many pass first players and not enough who will shoot. I would have liked to see us sign someone like Kaleb Pearson at Belfast.

Very pleased to see us dominate at faceoffs for a change, winning around 59%. Gettinger was the star, winning 11 of his 15 (73%). It does make a difference.

More of the same tonight please.

Regards

I think you are quite correct Keith and I suspect a bit of exaggeration from the Steelers media here, Any install, even the temporary one last night needs to be managed by the Arena staff to ensure compliance with H&S and I'm sure that is how it happened, when the club claims "we" sorted the problem I'd suggest that "we" is doing a lot of lifting here.

It was good to see a change of lines, all be it forced, pay off for a change. Glasgow are poor, but that's life I'm afraid, and their problem to sort, not ours.
Steele was great & see they swapped the D pairings having him with 57, after starting with 77. To me the pair worked well.
The cobbled together 4th line did what it could, and that's all you can ask for.
We need time to get bodies back, and go again. Having said that, I still think we're looking at 3rd / 4th. I just don't see set up men turning into snipers, as we lack natural finishers.

On the sound system. We were ones effected. Our tickets are a access bay 107, seats 1 & 2. Shaun Smith approached, said sorry Pete, and would we prefer an box or the accessible part of the Egde Seating to park myself ♿️🤣.
We opted for a box, but I still feel it's a bit anti septic watching from up there.
Ironically, it was so quite there, we couldn't hear many announcements.
During the 2nd break David Simms came in & was, very open about the situation.
He said the club have been in continuous discussions with the arena management for a couple of years to look at upgrading a 35year old sound system. Recently the arena management basically said "it's you problem not ours" and ended discussions.

The speakers were 1st set up on the stage & top of the Whitehouse, but a test yesterday showed that wouldn't work, so they had to move them.
They will be in the same places next Sunday, and during the following week there's a 3 day window when they can get the new speakers installed.
The club have bought these, apparently costing 50% of the season ticket income for the year.
I dread to think what it's going to be like working on 35yr old joints & brackets to remove the old stuff, plenty of patience & WD40 I imagine.
I'm usually very on the fence with Mr Simms, however whenever I've spoken with him, he's always been frank & open. I understand others have different views.
He says, it's not ideal, far from perfect & hopefully very short term, I agree, but there's a plan to rectify it.
After following since season 1, I'm willing to wait a couple more weeks for it to be resolved.

I am confused. How the hell can it be the Steelers problem to fix a sound system that is part of the fixtures and fittings of a building they are just tenants in and not the problem of the actual owners of the building? Does that mean we can refuse to allow the system to be used for other events in the building? Of course not. I am flabbergasted at the suggestion that this is not being paid for by the arena.

That doesn't make sense, a working PA system would be a requirement for almost any hirer of the Arena, to say it is the Steelers responsibility seems ludicrous. If that's how it pans out I'd defend the Steelers in not permitting any other user of the Arena access to the system without payment to cover maintenance costs.

Exactly this. They are not even exclusive use tenants. Its like renting a room in a HMO house and being told you're responsible for replacing the cooker.
