Third was all us but no goal scorer on the ice then a brainless penalty by Rockwood miles off the play with 3mins left gave all the momentum away. So we lost to a first minute goal. Lots of puck possession but no goal. I cant help but feel our recruitment has been poor on tonight’s showing. Balance of squad is all wrong.

We can't rely on Balmas to score the majority of our goals.

Devils 1-0 Steelers

With Balmas playing we would have won that, in almost all areas we were the better team the majority of the game. We need another goal scorer.

True but if the whole starting six had been playing in the first minute we would at least have got a point.

That’s probably correct.

However, teams that win trophies or championships find a way to win sometimes without their best players.

I don’t see this in this team or even in the majority of any Fox assembled team.

It sounds like we played quite well, but it's what I feared, you don't sign natural goal scorers, you don't score goals.

It's also now created the other situation I feared. Sign a netminder who is 90% or less, you can't afford to risk him because all games are must win games with pressure on the Coach.

When does Brine start a game again? - I can't see one, because there's too much risk, which makes his signing a bit pointless.

We did play well and the stats back it up, their netminder had one of those days against us and we just didn't have the final bit of quality to beat him, Dowd and Balmas would have made a difference I'm sure, agree with you about Brine, will Fox risk him against the bottom teams knowing we are not exactly scoring in bunches at the moment ?

Dowdy, I remember chatting to Mickey Lyon’s when he played for Wednesday towards the end of his career and had been out injured. He claimed that although he was slower he read teh game better and was fit enough to last for 90. He said He always wondered how you would know it was time to retire. Now he knew it was when you took so long to recover from injury that it was no longer worth it. Hope Dowd isn’t there yet.
Absolute warrior.

Agreed. I think Dowd and Mickey Lyon’s are made from the same stuff. If ever you were in the trenches you chose them to be with you. Invaluable players.

I didn’t see the game but when I saw they’d scored in 43 secs I thought we were in for a battering. I’m pleased that we seem to have been in most respects the better team but an inability to score adds to a very worrying trend. We’ve seen it in other games that scoring has been one of our big problems.

The club needs to do something to address this or we’ll all have to accept we’re not going to win anything this season.
