This season sadly shows only too clearly what a terrible decision it was to appoint Thompson. During that era we got used to the stress of supporting our team while not liking our team. What was even worse was the club, through its officials, falling out with its own supporters.

This team have got better as the season has gone by and I have been hugely entertained most evenings. Sometimes I have enjoyed a game when someone on here has found it dull or boring so we don’t all see the same thing. We have a coach who can recruit better than in previous years and has now proved himself during the season too. Some few minor adjustments, mainly in the D, next season and we should be flying.

Which by and large is what we have all been say bar a couple of fans, who lets face it are entitled to their opinion and to some extent have a point with some of their observations, John_26 in particular couldn't stomach the hockey anymore, but how on earth does that actuate to Steeltalk not liking the hockey at the moment?

I think some people just like to have a moan. I have to admit to being a bit of a lurker on the Devils and Panthers forums, and all(*) the folks on there are constantly(**) berating their own teams as much as anyone else's.

It's a bit crazy to say that an entire forum has a certain opinion tho... I always thought the purpose of forums was for people to share lots of different opinions with each other.

Warning I feel a rant coming on...

It is, and thats what they really dont like... the forum is a collective place that most of them either used to belong to and got themselves banned from or now secretly (so they think*) belong too, and so they can read it still only to bleat on about other peoples opinions on their own social media.. and a large amount of time they make crap up, because its suits there own agenda and fuels there own inflated sense of importance and ego..

One of their mistakes is to treat us like were thick, we are not, we build and maintain websites, all 3 off us build our own computers, all 3 of us use and work with computers in our professional lives and personal lives continually.

*(we have noticed them trickling back on under various aliases, we had quite a comprehensive list on the old forum of who they were, what fake/alternate emails they used and their IP Address etc - and the way the forum software works, it allows us to see when they were last active and Analytics tells us the page views demographics and session duration's of every IP etc)

I remember an infamous quote from DS when asked about the timeline incident over the news embargo: stating " I've checked with my tech guys and they confirm I am right" when referring to us breaking their 6am embargo, yet its was confirmed later and acknowledged that they had not altered their their timezone settings in the board preferences after the clocks had gone forward! so was showing the forum an hour behind the rest of us! 8-) Both on the Steelers Official account and at that time on Dave Simms personal account...
yet they still believe we (the forum on a whole and Admin in particular) are thick ass ignorant fans that know nothing of the sports inner workings and nothing of the game in general, who basically keyboard warriors who sit in our darkened bedrooms behind a keyboard... Seriously how much more insulting can you get.. no wonder we get a little agitated..
Ask around on here, I know a few members personally and they may tell you about my setup and darkened room!! (below)

keyboard warriors my arse!

@mark @Mart @Greenbunch257 @TealSteeler @steviehp1 to name a few...

Rant over..

I've been very positive about the team this season.

There are some posters who just don't seem able to accept the change from the more physical/nasty style of hockey and as a result never seem happy, but I accept times have changed and enjoy the sport for what it is.

I totally agree that some fans have that very same view but to call them posters refers to this forum.. and then to say they dont accept the change, is again referring to them never being happy..

I agree the hockey has changed but like you I think many more have embraced the changes and are enjoying the hockey at the moment... as this poll shows 96% but fans can still yearn for more of the physical/nasty style of hockey and still enjoy supporting the hockey we have now.. this really is the entire point one set of views dont automatically mean your moaning or not enjoying the hockey... ;)

NA style hockey is what the majority of us have grown to watch in all the years we have been following the sport.

We did try to go all European style recently but that was an experiment which I think didn't really work. Now Fox has brought grit and the old style work ethic back. This is proper Steelers hockey and for one, am so happy to have it back. Long may this continue.
Hockey fan since 1980, Steeler since day one.

This is a great forum. Moderated well and quickly. Yes there are different opinions , which is the whole point isn't it ? It is very informative too as if you are puzzled about any game incidents someone will contribute their opinion or knowledge of what happened. Many of our posters are funny and perceptive , there is no swearing and namecalling , unlike twitter and people give evidence for their opinions and you have to respect that.
It is always the first place for me to go for news, without the spin of the main site or the tardiness of the EIHL site.
I never use twitter, maybe I am too old . I still spellcheck and try to get the grammar right. Yes, definitely too old.
