There is a press conference at 9.30am tomorrow at Sheffield Arena with “good news”.

In typical Steelers fashion it is somewhat vague but the below is the official release.

“Good evening Sheffield. We have a huge morning at the @SheffieldArena tomorrow - big press conference and great news to bring you. Keep your phones on from about 9.30am for the build up”

If I was a betting man, I’d assume it will be positive news regarding the future of the arena following recent speculation in local media.

Just out of interest Jay what sort of contract is Coach on?
Is it a year on year rolling type or a 2yr, 3yr deal?

Or do contracts not actually mean anything in this sport?

The Steelers & Sheffield City Trust have signed a 7 year extension to their partnership.

This is good news, but I don't understand how we can sign an agreement with Sheffield City Trust when the council will be taking back control of the arena?

Peter Spencer reported the agreement is also with Sheffield City Council.

Excellent news. In my 20+ years of going to the arena we must have the best relationship with the arena owners that we've ever had. Credit to everyone.

“We will continue to work as one to ensure the Steelers and the Utilita Arena Sheffield are seen as innovators and leading lights in the world of Ice Hockey and Live Events and everyone associated with our club whether it is supporters, players, staff, sponsors or stakeholders gets the experience they deserve”

However, surely if the arena has the right ambitions it should be wanting to host at least one of the EIHL showpiece finals?
