Both Aaron Fox & Carter Beston-Will have signed 3 year extensions through to the conclusion of the 24/25 season.

The former Medveščak Zagreb duo have overseen a Challenge Cup victory as well as being in the mix for this years title, albeit up against the odds.

Fox will continue as Head Coach/General Manager where he can put to use his recruiting abilities.

Beston-Will will continue as Assistant-Coach, he specialises in video analysis.

I am happy with the extension, although we maybe need to look at our methods in training to reduce the scale of injuries we’ve seen under them to increase our competitiveness.

Fox has extensive European contacts from his time recruiting in the KHL and ICEHL and Beston-Will offers the video side, allowing us to be best prepared for any given opponent as well as improving our own game.

I like Fox and am pleased with his contract extension. I'm sure he will have learned valuable lessons with this being his 1st full season after the last one being cut short.

I would like to hope that we have a younger team next season as I believe the average age of our team has been too high which has added to extra injuries.

He also needs to get the goalie situation right for next season as well.

I couldn't be happier with this news, I have been extremely impressed with the attitude towards the job and media duties, when we are doing well as well has when we are struggling too.
I am hoping that he is up for adapting his methodology regarding style of play etc. We've all seen that a plan B isn't always apparent. Plan A when working is very good, but I am sure from his comments he sees that teams can work that out, especially when key players are not fully fit or willing to adapt.
Moving forward I would also love to see him add a bit of size and aggression into the team. Maybe dial down the skillful player just a notch especially in defence and add 1 or 2 in your face gritty in your face defenders instead..

All of this is not in any way a criticism at all as I believe that only tweaks are necessary and I am sure Aaron Fox will have seen the areas we have been weak and the areas teams have often bettered us..

Overall very happy with this news, which as I said earlier in other posts was due to be announced. The news deserved its own day..

I do think it's great news.
I suspect he may be thinking from next year.
Overall reduction in age of squad/team.
We have over his two years had an extreme amount of injuries. Misfortune? Age? Training we do? or is it a combination of these factors.
? Think about different style of players. When our A game plan isn't working we don't have a plan B or a style of player to do so. Or will he persist with same type of player fitting his A game plan.
Trying to find a stud netminder. We've had good ones but not excellent ones that can frequently be the difference between a W or a L

Very happy with this news, and I think they deserve the contract extension. I think that, if we had been able to keep the original team together we would have made a serious challenge for all trophies. For next season I would love to see a stud netminder and stronger defence men. We also need more forwards of a higher calibre - Valley can't do it on his own.

The key to our entire season right there.. the Defence as been the weak link all season, even when we were winning.. average at best netminding and and ageing and poor defence around them.. Sam jones is the only shining light with maybe Daine Todd worth another year.. Davey as not been anywhere near is best so would be a doubt but a brit defender it's a hard decision and ASD wasn't a patch on the player he was during the mini series.

Keaton Ellerby, Antonin Boruta and Kevin Schulze would not be on my wanted list :hey: Sorry

Most of our injuries have been broken bones, impact injuries or ACL damage. A change to training won't do anything to reduce these types of injuries.

This is great news for me. Aaron has had a couple of years in the EIHL now and I suspect next season will be the best team out of the 3. I think he will go younger and look to bring in more scoring to reduce some of the pressure on Vally (assuming he returns)

Excellent news to have them signed for another 3 years. They've brought exciting successful hockey to Sheffield and long may it continue. Who's to say how long they'll be here....

Listening to the numerous interviews with this weeks news it sounds as though Fox is keen to stay longer and that he would like to build next year's team starting with the 'core', I wonder who would be deemed included within that list of players? Dowd, Vallerand, Connolly, Eberle, Armstrong, Davey, Jono, Jones, Graham, Shudra and Warburton.

I would also assume that the match night roster limit will be raised by one to reach 20.

I would think the core + this years keeps would include:

Dowd, Vallerand, Mosey, Latal, Connolly, Davey, Schulze, ASD, Jono, Jones, Whistle, Eberle, Armstrong, Warburton, Graham, Shudra.

Obviously there could be some leave that may receive better offers or search for hockey elsewhere but I would have thought most would take this list back. Will be interesting to see if there is any movement regarding the DeLuca situation as we have certainly missed his offensive skills. The younger gen I would assume may remain on 2-way contracts excluding Whistle who I think will be a full time Steeler officially next season.

Would love to see something like :

Vallerand-Connolly-Dowd
Eberle-NEW-Latal
Mosey-Armstrong-DeLuca
Jono-Whistle-Graham

Jones-ASD
Davey-Schulze
NEW-NEW

Rok / NEW
Warburton

New center ideally would be a Mikyska style player who we had in the Elite Series, thought he stood out and linked up well with Dowd.

I think we could see 2 new d-men as I don't think Todd or Ellerby will return. Maybe we need some slightly more defensive minded options but the style Fox likes to play we do need good puck moving defenseman who can jump into the play.

I wouldn't mind seeing Rok back as well, don't think we will see Barry again next season, but you never know.

There maybe a couple who people don't agree with like Armstrong, but I think in the right role he's one of our most effective players, he's still got 24 points in 38 league games and is a key face-off man, compare him with say a Stephen Dixon from Cardiff who I think we would all take has 29 points in 43 games, it isn't just about points and I think Armstrong can still be a key piece for us.
