I have to say I'm not sure where the "irresponsible" bit comes in.
I think, from reading between the lines of what they're saying, is they do not want to unduly raise either excitement or expectations on the season getting underway soon by announcing signings. Signings who may have to otherwise walkaway from their EIHL contracts to other leagues that start sooner in order not to miss out on a wage.

I know Austria for example is getting underway late September, and tentative word might be November/December for things getting underway here. If you're an EIHL import, do you sit without a wage waiting up to 3 months, or would you go to Austria and start earning money in September?

Though it would be better if they just said that straight out, as oppose to implying other clubs in the league are "irresponsible" by announcing signings.

The ice plant is currently being assembled off-site ready for installation, still going ahead as planned.

Will be ready for whenever next season is.

Clive Betts said on Radio Sheffield with Toby Foster yesterday morning that he doesn’t think any SIV venue will open this year.

Let’s hope he’s wrong.

Anything happening with the Steeldogs ? They could survive on a half full Ice Sheffield with socially distanced seating.

This is a huge announcement for keeping hope of a season before the new year.

With music gigs now allowed to take place outside, and work underway to understand how they could make indoor events as safe as possible, I’d say there’s no reason why we couldn’t see a hockey season in 4 months time

It sounds like they allowed 30% attendance for the world snooker final.

It has also been announced today that they're going to start allowing crowds back in to lower level football.

I wonder if the EIHL could operate at say 50% attendance.

At least things are starting to move in a positive direction.
