In view of Mike Hicks' comments regarding maximising ice time for the GB guys, am I the only one surprised that Panthers was allowed to sign our #1 & #2 netminders? One is almost certain to have less ice time.

I understand Panthers may wish to trade Whistle, however by that time other teams may have sorted themselves out. Also I'd hope Fox would say thanks but no thanks should we be approached , unless Bowns is offered, which of course is highly unlikely.
I've said the same thing over on social media, would have thought the fair option would be each of the 4 teams should have had 1 or the top 4 british netminders. I presume that would be Bowns, Whistle, Murphy plus one other. not knowing to much about our guy Churchfield, but I presume we will be running with a import goalie such as Duba, so that leaves Coventry as the natural choice for whistle to go to in a Trade, but then you have to ask the question who would Coventry be willing to trade to Nottingham? :!:
I thought it was a shrewd move tbh, could you see Bowns, who has had a bad injury this season, play all those games in a month? I’m not sure he’d have much left in the tank come the Worlds. I think it’s good for GB they’re on the same team tbh.
I agree. The games come thick and fast and protecting Bowns by having the current GB 1-2 tandem training and playing together, sharing the workload, makes sense to me. Bowns wouldn't play for Steelers, would look bad if Panthers had not protected Whistle- how would that have looked for next season!?
So I think makes sense for GB needs prior to Worlds and the clubs for next season.

Well it doesn't happen very often but I disagree with Paul, I think Whistle should have the opportunity to play every game and that should be in Sheffield or Coventry. This may be a series that is predominantly set up for the GB squad to gain match fitness and game time but unless Sheffield (presumably Duba ) or coventry bring in an import goalie then its a playing disadvantage...

On a related question who would be rated as the GB 4th in line to play goalie?

Whistle has long-standing hip issues meaning he can’t play all the games so close together in this series.

All teams will need to rotate keepers for this as the #1’s will be overworked. We’ll definitely see what Churchfield is made of, Fox tips him as a future starter.

I am really looking forward to seeing him play, do we have any actual knowledge how good he is? ie has any of us seen him play? or seen reports from his previous clubs?

Some Steelers fans who regularly watch the academy will have some idea as he came through our system. Put up good numbers in NCAA III but I have no idea what standard that is.

Churchfield seems to be a bit of a sleeper and if does well may sneak in to the GB reckoning.

There was a tweet last week, which seems to have disappeared from my timeline, suggesting viewing information at be available in a week or so.

Looking forward to hearing about our imports too.
